Launching for the first time in April 2016, Le Cordon Bleu London has created a new internship pathway, helping students to gain that all important first step into the industry.
The Le Cordon Bleu internship pathway programme, which is new for 2016, has been designed to provide students with an experience of working in a professional kitchen as part of their culinary training (Grand Diplôme®, Cuisine and/or Pâtisserie).
This opportunity will see our students connected with one of our highly regarded industry partners who will be able to facilitate a placement, leading to a practical understanding of business and a variety of alternative aspects of kitchen operations.
The programme will allow students to network, hone their interpersonal skills and apply theoretical situations to real life work practices in their chosen industry.
Diploma in Culinary Management Creator and Lecturer, Elaine McCarthy says: “Le Cordon Bleu offers Internships in a wide variety of London establishments, which provide students with hands on experience in a professional kitchen environment. Once students complete their training they will be extremely well prepared to enter the exciting restaurant world having already put their learned skills to use in a professional setting. The internship pathway offers valuable experience to students when entering the competitive environment as a professional chef.”
Sometimes connections in the industry are hard to find, but this way you our students will be able to learn from the people around them, ask questions, secure a possible job for the end of their course and impress a possible employer with their eagerness.
Nitin Radhakrishnan, Lecturer and Coordinator of the Internship Pathway comments on the launch: “This connecting route will create opportunity for our students to step out of the classroom environment and into a real life setting, which will provide another dimension to practical and realistic exposure.
We hope that this pathway will teach our students how to appreciate the skills needed to become a good chef or manager, whilst also gaining confidence in dealing with a variety of situations – which is the key to surviving in the industry! Not only will this opportunity give our students time to reflect on their understanding of these real life scenarios and acknowledge their strengths and weaknesses, but they will also be able to begin networking with professional chefs in acclaimed kitchens of London.”
