He scored a terrific position after graduating with the Bachelor of Business (Hotel & Resort Management), securing conferences and conventions for South Australia. But this was only the beginning, and he now owns and operates a sales and marketing consulting business based out of Bangkok.

Sid Ketkar’s first appointment was as account manager for the Adelaide Convention Bureau, the peak independent body for business events in South Australia. His responsibility: to oversee Sydney, New Zealand and South Australian markets.

My role was to secure conferences and conventions for South Australia, which helped me build my profile nationally and within the Asia region.

Sidd’s next step was in business events for tourism bureaus in Sydney and the Gold Coast, where he managed the Asia Pacific Region. After eight years, he took a big leap of faith and started his own sales and marketing consulting business, based out of Bangkok.

He has subsequently worked for different hotel chains, such as InterContinental Hotels Group and Accor, for the pre-opening or rebranding of hotels. He has stayed on with Accor as director of sales.

The Australian says he loves living in Thailand.

‘Bangkok gives me easy access to the entire South East Asian region, which makes it very appealing.’

‘There is plenty of work and with new hotels opening on a weekly basis the opportunities are endless.’

Sidd says he will always be grateful to be a part of the Le Cordon Bleu family.

Without Le Cordon Bleu I would not have moved to Adelaide in the first place and without the course I would not have acquired the knowledge that prepared me to take on the hospitality world.
