Le Cordon Bleu is proud of its international network of inspiring graduates. At every opportunity we celebrate the achievements of our alumni, and here we share a few of the outstanding successes around the world from this year.
Garima Arora received the Young Chef Award from the 2022 Michelin Guide Thailand. A Le Cordon Bleu Paris alumna, Garima opened her restaurant Gaa in Bangkok in 2017. Originally from Mumbai, India, her restaurant offers modern cuisine inspired by traditional Indian techniques. In November 2018, Garima Arora became the first Indian female chef to be awarded a Michelin star.
Alumni owned restaurant, Sollip, has been awarded one Michelin-star in the Michelin Guide for Great Britain and Ireland 2022. Le Cordon Bleu London alumni Woongchul Park and Bomee Ki moved to London from South Korea in early 2020 to open Sollip near London Bridge. They serve a menu marrying European and Korean cuisine, combining their cultural heritage with their culinary training.
Michelle Goh was named as one of Asia’s Top Pastry Chefs of 2022 by the Michelin Guide. An alumna of Le Cordon Bleu Sydney, Michelle opened restaurant Mia with chef Pongcharn “Top” Russell in Bangkok. Not only was she listed as one of Asia’s top female pastry chefs, but her fine dining restaurant Mia made the cut in Michelin Guide’s Thailand edition for 2022.
Cheryl Puteri Gunawan won the ninth season of MasterChef Indonesia this year. Cheryl, who is an alumna of Le Cordon Bleu New Zealand, runs her own bakery business, CHER, focused on baked goods & cakes based in her hometown, Surabaya. She is a rising star in the Indonesian culinary industry since winning the competition.
Central restaurant, owned by alumni Virgilio Martínez and Pía León, has been named second best restaurant in the list of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2022 and Best Restaurant in Latin America. Virgilio is an alumnus of Le Cordon Bleu Ottawa and London institutes, and Pía, who won the title of Best Female Chef 2021, is an alumna of Le Cordon Bleu Peru.
Sommelier Jiachen Lu and chef Gail Li have won the UK leg of the Copa Jerez competition, qualifying for the finals which will take place next year. Both Jiachen and Gail are alumni of Le Cordon Bleu London, and now work together at Dinings SW3 as sommelier and chef de partie respectively.
