With 20,000 skilled workers needed by 2020 to meet Queensland’s booming tourism and hotel industry1, it is an excellent time study at Le Cordon Bleu Brisbane.
Minister for Training and Skills Development Ms Shannon Fentiman was thrilled with the cohort, saying it was an exciting accomplishment for the Queensland hospitality industry. “This is a fantastic achievement and I am really excited to see them dish up their talents and skills on Queensland plates. Having world-renowned culinary school, Le Cordon Bleu right here in Brisbane means our future master chefs are gaining the world-class skills they need to make their mark in the hospitality industry,” Ms Fentiman said.
Since launching in Brisbane in 2018, Le Cordon Bleu has received increasing interest from local industry seeking skilled professionals. Academic Director, Paul Picksley, said: “Our graduates possess skillsets unmatched by many, and with upcoming local tourism projects such as Queen’s Wharf in the works, our first graduating cohort are well placed to deliver superior culinary excellence to bolster Brisbane’s hospitality offering.”
The 1st Excellence in Culinary Arts for Cuisine was awarded to mature-age student Lyn Fidler for achieving the highest aggregated mark in final practical exams, winning a $3000 Scholarship towards ongoing study. Lyn’s passion is to use her world-class culinary training to reinvent the landscape of aged-care food.
