Industry Partner Profile: Cathy Sinden, Recruitment Manager, The Star Entertainment Group Sydney

Cathy Sinden, Recruitment Manager, The Star Entertainment Group Sydney, has been providing work placement (Work Integrated Learning) and career opportunities for Le Cordon Bleu students for over a decade. “I’ve had a long and fruitful relationship with Le Cordon Bleu both in Adelaide and in Sydney. I’ve lost count of how many amazing students we’ve placed from Le Cordon Bleu.”

In August 2016, the relationship between The Star Entertainment Group Sydney and Le Cordon Bleu was solidified with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two organisations. This agreement has created countless career opportunities for Le Cordon Bleu graduates.

Cathy Sinden explains why The Star Entertainment Group Sydney has enjoyed such a long and fruitful relationship with Le Cordon Bleu. “The reason we choose Le Cordon Bleu students is the skill level they bring to our business: they are very professional; they know how to present themselves; they know how to act when they arrive on the premises - that is very important to our organisation. We have a number of different partnerships, but Le Cordon Bleu is by far the most valuable to me.”

Cathy considers Le Cordon Bleu’s Career Services team as key to the success of the enduring relationship between the two organisations. “I’ve worked with the Le Cordon Bleu Career Services team extensively, they are really open to hearing what we need, they provide the exact type of student that we need, and they’re always there to support us and the student on the job. This makes it really easy to do business with them. Realistically, I’m a bit of a fan… and I’m really excited to be moving forward into the next stage of our relationship.”

The Career Services team supports students in their work placements (Work Integrated Learning), building their confidence by fine tuning skills, knowledge and personal attributes. The team focuses on developing practical skills such as resume and cover letter writing, basic and advanced interview techniques and networking skills. Building self-awareness is a vital attribute for future managers and leaders. Le Cordon Bleu’s Career Services team are dedicated to ensuring students are work-ready upon graduation
