Le Cordon Bleu Madrid celebrates the seventh edition of ChefsForChildren in partnership with the DiabetesCERO Foundation

The prestigious culinary institute, Le Cordon Bleu Madrid, hosted an event where children with diabetes enjoyed an afternoon filled with smiles alongside celebrated chefs. Wearing their aprons and chef's hats, the children were divided into groups and separated into two classrooms. The school's teachers had prepared the ingredients and utensils for two healthy recipes: a chicken and vegetable curry with cauliflower semolina, and a Liégeois chocolate cream. Under the guidance of the chefs, the children followed instructions with curiosity as they skilfully combined the ingredients to create both dishes.

Chefs Iván Cerdeño (from Iván Cerdeño – Cigarral del Ángel), Hugo Muñoz (from Ugo Chan), Javier Aranda (from Gaytán), María Gómez (from Magoga), Ricardo Sanz (from Ricardo Sanz Wellington), and Juan Antonio Medina (from Tatel) served as ambassadors for ChefsForChildren. In collaboration with the DiabetesCERO Foundation and under the slogan "Eating Healthy is Fun," they developed educational and engaging workshops for children living with diabetes.

To promote the values of healthy eating and solidarity among young children, ChefsForChildren brings together over 60 Michelin-starred chefs in an initiative that, now in its seventh edition, collaborates with DiabetesCERO. This prominent Spanish foundation is committed to research focused on discovering a cure for type 1 diabetes, an autoimmune disease primarily affecting children and growing increasingly prevalent. Every year, between 1,200 and 1,500 children under the age of 15 are diagnosed with this condition in Spain, with 1 in 42 families facing the challenges of this chronic illness.

Sandra Campinas, CEO of DiabetesCERO, expressed excitement about the recent ChefsForChildren workshop at Le Cordon Bleu Madrid. She stated, "It is truly thrilling to see children with type 1 diabetes enjoying, learning, and cooking alongside some of the best chefs in the country. This experience showed them that healthy cooking can be fun, and they also felt the support and enthusiasm from everyone who believes in a future without type 1 diabetes. At DiabetesCERO, we work daily to make that vision a reality by promoting research to find a cure. We are incredibly grateful to all the chefs and collaborators who have dedicated their talent and passion to support this important cause."

The director of Le Cordon Bleu Madrid, Rosario Barrios, hosted this event with the children and affirmed, "We believe that cooking, besides nourishing the body and serving as a creative expression, has the power to convey this important message. In this edition, which coincides with our 130th anniversary, we wanted to open our doors to the children and guest chefs to enhance the impact of this valuable initiative. The participating children can have an unforgettable experience, learning that cooking can be both healthy and fun. We are proud to collaborate with the DiabetesCERO Foundation and support their commitment to research."
