From April 18th to 20th, during Le Cordon Bleu "Chinese Cuisine, Global Expression" event in Paris, France, the world's first Le Cordon Bleu institute - the Paris campus - also witnessed the launch of the first season of "The Torrent: Starting from Shanghai - Global City Cultural Dialogue"!
At the same time, Mr. Andre J. Cointreau, President of Le Cordon Bleu, had an in-depth conversation with The Paper News and the "Torrent" project, telling the global audience about the connotations of the wonderful culinary art and food works in Le Cordon Bleu's "Chinese Cuisine, Global Expression."
"The Torrent" premieres in Paris, and Le Cordon Bleu President discusses the philosophy of Chinese and French cuisines.
As a project of the "China-France Cultural and Tourism Year," the inaugural ceremony of the first season of "The Torrent: Starting from Shanghai - Global City Cultural Dialogue" and the Paris Forum were held at the Palais de la Bourdonnais on the banks of the Seine River.
Mr. Andre J. Cointreau, President of Le Cordon Bleu, attended the inaugural ceremony of "The Torrent" in Paris and the Paris Forum. At the forum, he proposed that through the taste buds, one can experience the flowing aesthetics of the East and West and the philosophy of Chinese food: "As mentioned in Greek culture, every piece of art represents human understanding of the entire universe. The balance of yin and yang in Chinese culture is very well preserved in food. Just like the color, aroma, and taste in Chinese dishes, this contrast and matching are very balanced and harmonious."
When talking about the connection between Chinese and French cultural exchanges and food, Mr. Andre J. Cointreau said, "Where there is culture, there will be delicious food. Both China and France are great countries for food, and the essence lies in a prosperous and vibrant civilization. As an international culinary school, Le Cordon Bleu focuses on local dietary culture, adheres to the principle of respecting local culture, and hopes to stimulate the vitality of heritage through innovation to promote the common prosperity of diverse civilizations."
In a special dialogue with The Paper News, he mentioned, "Paris and Shanghai are both cities full of international atmosphere, which is deeply integrated into their culture. These two cities are different from inland cities, located near rivers or estuaries, at the intersection of various things, and are open to the world." Therefore, Le Cordon Bleu not only provides professional services but more importantly, it allows education and urban culture to present a mutually beneficial interaction. Le Cordon Bleu Shanghai is not only a school but also a part of community service.
The Connotation of "Chinese Cuisine, Global Expression" Culinary Art Works
At the same time, in his dialogue with The Paper News, Mr. Andre J. Cointreau expressed the warmth carried by food and the unremitting pursuit of beauty by humanity, "The core of food lies in the chef. Both Chinese and French people will agree that the 'person who can cook' is an important person in the family. He decides what the family eats every day and plays an important role in Chinese and French family culture. In many other countries, the 'person who can cook' may just be someone who works in the kitchen, a simple functionality, without cultural significance."
Mr. Andre J. Cointreau's thoughts and sincere expressions lives up to global audience expectation and were vividly presented at this "Chinese Cuisine, Global Expression" event.
