The Institute of Culinary Arts Le Cordon Bleu Rio de Janeiro celebrated its Opening Ceremony on the 24th June. The event was hosted by the Worldwide President Mr. André Cointreau and the General Manager in Brazil, Sofia Mesquita. The party took place at the Institute’s facilities located on the vibrant neighborhood of Botafogo, at Rua da Passagem 179.

The opening speech was made by our former student (from Le Cordon Bleu Paris) and renowed chef Flávia Quaresma that shared the stage with Chef Roland Villard that presented Le Cordon Bleu Rio de Janeiro with the first book published by the institution. The Vice French Consul Jean-François Laborie spoke about the importance of the Institute in Rio de Janeiro following the speech of the Director General of the Institution in Brazil, Sofia Mesquita, and Mr. André Cointreau, who left us the following message:
"The purpose and mission of Le Cordon Bleu is to share its Excellence, Passion, Know-how, Experience, Creativity and Modernity with the wonderful city of Rio de Janeiro. The beginning of a long and beautiful adventure.''
We would like to thank the Sales and Marketing Director Alienor Cointreau, the Technical-Academic Director Patrick Martin and the Head Chefs Philippe Brye and João Paulo Frankenfeld, as well as all our chefs and collaborators, dear students and guests who have been present at this important moment for us. Among the guests: David Jobert, Elia Schramm, Katia Hannequim, Frédéric de Maeyer, David Zisman, Ricardo Lapeyre, Roberta Ciasca, Zazá Piereck, Frédéric Monnier, Paula Prandini, Kátia Barbosa, Cello Camolese among others!

After the cut of the ribbon, the guests were served with typical French and Brazilian dishes among them: seafood caldeirada, Veal Stew with truffled pistachio and aligot and duck in the tucupi. It could also be found at the party a table with a variety of award-winning cheeses and various artisan breads. And, as it could not be missed, two Show Classes taught by Head chefs Philippe Brye and João Paulo Frankenfeld, our stars. For the Pâtisserie show class it was prepared the beautiful macarons and for cuisine a delicious bisque.
It was a day of great joy that went listening to the live sound of Bossa Nova and with several toasts all night long. A memorable night!
