Kimchi Cook Off with AMA and Le Cordon Bleu

London

Le Cordon Bleu London is pleased to announce a new competition in partnership with Association Mes Amis (AMA) and sponsored by global kimchi brand, Jongga.

Open to anyone who loves cooking with kimchi or wants to get creative in the kitchen, the Kimchi Cook Off is a cooking competition challenging entrants to create innovative recipes encompassing the traditional Korean dish.

People have enjoyed kimchi in Korea for over 1000 years, and this versatile dish combines 5 key Korean flavours: sour, bitter, salty, sweet and spicy. The version of kimchi you may be most familiar with is made using cabbage, but there are over 20 types with ingredients varying to reflect the different tastes, seasons and regions of Korea.

Kimchi can be combined into a huge range of dishes, so AMA and Le Cordon Bleu are challenging entrants to design a delicious and unique new kimchi dish. To enter simply create your recipe, take a picture of the dish, submit your entry following the steps via the link below between the 17th – 25th September. Ten finalists will be chosen by a panel of judges, including Le Cordon Bleu master chefs, to take part in the final cook off which will take place at Le Cordon Bleu London on Tuesday 5th October. A total of £10,000 in prizes is up for grabs for the winner and three runners-up.

The aim of AMA is to promote French culture in Korea and vice-versa. In 2017 they launched the Kimchi Festival in Paris and the following year a culinary competition showcasing kimchi in partnership with Le Cordon Bleu Paris. This year AMA announced they would be sponsoring a scholarship programme at Le Cordon Bleu Paris, in addition to bringing the Kimchi Cook Off to Le Cordon Bleu London.
