Le Cordon Bleu was delighted with the nationwide popularity of its gourmet short courses in specialty bread making, patisserie & cuisine techniques, chocolate discovery, and food photography. Our workshops held at leading culinary events also proved extremely valuable, diversifying the brand’s offering and broadening its market reach.
A sold-out Careers Residential for 17 senior high school students involved a 3-day whirlwind schedule to explore their culinary curiosity and discover potential study and career pathways. Adelaide was a major sponsor for leading culinary event Tasting Australia, inspiring young foodies with a series of fun food events hosted by Le Cordon Bleu Master Chefs, and presenting a highly anticipated 3-day Food & Wine Writing Workshop. Adelaide French Festival featured sold-out Le Cordon Bleu Masterclasses (Junior Sous Chef, Patisserie, and Pol Roger Champagne workshops) designed to inspire and educate participants.
Brisbane Institute celebrated its official opening in style with a high-profile media conference and formal cocktail function attended by VIPs, local MPs, media corps, industry partners, education agents, and Le Cordon Bleu representatives. Hundreds attended Le Cordon Bleu masterclasses at Le Festival 2018 for lovers of French cuisine & culture, the largest French Festival in Australia with more than 40,000 registered visitors. Brisbane opened its doors to a vibrant new cohort, welcoming 43 students from 12 countries into its world-class culinary arts and hospitality management programmes.
Melbourne celebrated 3 years of remarkable growth since opening with a stylish cocktail event at the Langham Hotel with guests including hotel & restaurant industry executives, media, industry partners, Le Cordon Bleu alumni & staff. Le Cordon Bleu showcased its prestige educational brand to 35,000 visitors over 3 days at Melbourne Good Food and Wine Show, the leading food and wine event in the state, delighting visitors with delicious choux pastry samples and a sold-out Food Writing for Media Workshop.
Sydney enjoyed two sold-out workshops at the Sample Food Festival in Bangalow, NSW attracting over 17,000 visitors with workshop guests experiencing hands-on creative learning and opportunities for industry exposure. Karen Doyle (Programme Manager NSW) was recognised for industry excellence as a finalist in the category of ‘Women in Leadership’ at the 2018 Nestlé Professional Women in Foodservice Awards. Sydney students won an impressive array of awards in the 2017 Australian Culinary Challenge; other accomplishments include the 2018 Minister’s Student Achiever Award, and a Silver Medal for the NSW junior team in the Chefs Table Competition.
