Bozena Garbinska is a former Food Photography student of Le Cordon Bleu Online Learning. Recently winning an international award for her food photography, read more about Bozena and her journey with Le Cordon Bleu.

1. Please provide a short overview about yourself?

I’m Bozena. I’m living in Wroclaw, Poland. Photography is not my main profession (yet), I work in finance. But I always felt that I have an artistic soul. My photography road started about eight years ago. I began to run a blog with food recipes and photographed what I prepared, but the food was more important. After a few years, I realized that photography was becoming more and more vital for me. I wanted to develop my skills. First, I read and watched everything I could find in my native language. But honestly, there was not much I could find in Polish. So, I started looking for courses in English.

2. Why did you choose to study with Le Cordon Bleu Online Learning?

I chose Le Cordon Bleu Online Learning (LCBOL) for a few reasons. Firstly, the reputation of the brand guaranteed me that I would get what I paid for. The introduction to Nelly le Comte, the Food Photography lecturer, assured me that I would learn something new to develop my skills. The online course was a great possibility for me to still study Food Photography, which I could otherwise not physically participate in due to the distance and cost. The way the course is run also provides you with personal support and feedback from the teacher.

3. Can you tell us about the award you have won? Why is it important to you?

I participated in the Foodelia competition. It’s an international website with very talented and creative food photographers from over fifty countries. Such appreciation by winning an award has validated to me that I learned something, and others may like my photography.

4. What was your winning food photography image?

The hero of the photo is the gluten-free cake with mascarpone frosting and caramelized figs. I wanted to show the mood of the afternoon light. View Bozena's Foodelia profile here

5. How did studying Food Photography with LCBOL help you to achieve this?

Studying Food Photography with LCBOL showed me how important detail is. It pushed me to get out of my comfort zone and be creative. That, all together, really raised my photography skills.
